Pumpkin porridge with wheat is a healthy and nutritious Azerbaijani dish, rich in pumpkin, traditionally prepared during the autumn and winter months.

Peel the pumpkin and cut it into cubes.
Wash the groats several times.
Place all ingredients (pumpkin, groats, granulated sugar, salt) into a pot, and pour in about a quarter of a cup of water.
Place the pot over high heat. Once the water starts boiling at the bottom of the pot, reduce the heat to very low and add the milk, previously heated in a microwave.
After 20 minutes, add butter and let it simmer for a while on low heat until the ingredients soften. (Alternatively, you can place all ingredients in a pot and bake in the oven at low heat for 2 hours).
Served hot, topped with butter.
